Q: Do I need to cook the herbs?
A: Herbs are generally prescribed in their raw form, to be decocted (cooked) and taken as a tea. Raw herbs are more effective than pills, granules or powders.
Q: Can I take the herbs in pill form?
A: The herbs are available in pill and capsule form for convenience. Pill and capsule form is not recommended for chronic/unrelenting conditions, as the liquid form is stronger.
Q: Are there side effects?
A: The most common side effect reported with taking Chinese herbal medicine is mild nausea. This is usually addressed by taking the herbs with food, or in smaller doses throughout the day. More serious side effects have been reported and are rare with the correct prescription and dosage.
Q: Are there endangered animal products in the formula?
A: No.
Q: Can I take the herbs while on prescription medication?
A: Precautions are taken when patients are taking prescription medication. The use of herbal medications is not recommended for patients on heparin or warfarin.
